Practice with Purpose: The 5 Pillars of Private Practice Success

This CEU presentation is sponsored by Adelphi University. Register here.

Building a private practice, or elevating the one you’ve already begun, is an exciting, expansive journey.

But without the right foundation, it can quickly become a source of confusion, overwork, and misalignment. This seminar is designed to help therapists, regardless of where they are on their private practice journey, to move beyond surface-level strategies and into the heart of what makes a practice not only successful, but truly sustainable, joyful, and value-driven.

Led by Victoria Grinman, LCSW-R, PhD, a dual-licensed clinician with nearly 20 years in the field, and 12+in private practice, mentorship, and leadership, this seminar is rooted in real-world experience and a deeply human approach to building a private practice that works with you as you evolve.
In our time together, you’ll learn the five core pillars that serve as the foundation for a private practice that reflects who you are, what you stand for, and how you want to live and serve. This is about curating a business that feeds both your purpose and your life, not one that burns you out.

We’ll go beyond the logistics of branding, networking, and scheduling, and instead get to the real engine behind longevity: clarity. Because the truth is, it’s not the algorithm, your website font, or a perfectly worded elevator pitch that creates sustainability; it’s knowing who you are, what you offer, and how to make decisions that align with your evolving values.

This workshop will support you in crafting a practice that you want to wake up to every day. A practice that grows as you grow, and serves your clients with integrity, excellence, and heart.

You’ll walk away feeling empowered, confident, and more clear (and calm) about the journey you’re on, whether you’re just starting out or ready to reimagine what’s next.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this seminar, participants will:

  1. Learn the 5 part framework for building a sustainable, value-driven private practice.

  2. Understand what truly makes a practice sustainable—beyond marketing strategies and social media tactics.

  3. Gain clarity on how to align your personal evolution with your professional direction and decision-making.

  4. Discover powerful, modern strategies for marketing and networking that transcend traditional methods.

  5. Learn how to effectively communicate your unique value to the people you’re meant to serve.

  6. Explore how to identify and refine your niche and pricing in ways that reflect both your values and business goals.

  7. Understand how to integrate multiple income streams in a way that feels cohesive and grounded.

  8. Walk away with tools to create a practice that brings joy, purpose, and energy into both your work and your life.

Mastering the Art of Parent Engagement: Empower Parents to Be the Change Agent in Their Child’s Treatment

This virtual CEU seminar is hosted by Adelphi University.

Registration link to be shared closer to date.

As therapists, parents are one of our biggest blindspots.

We feel like we have limited time and options for collaborating and working with them.

And honestly for most of us, it just wasn’t something we were taught.

But families are systems. One’s in which parents don’t know what to do or what to say…often taking things from bad to worse.

So if you’re not working with the entire system in which your young clients live, every bit of progress you make in individual sessions will soon fall away.

As an internationally recognized therapist known as “The Parent Whisperer” I’ve spent my career mastering the art of engaging difficult to reach parents.

Now in this must-have one day training I’ll share the tools, strategies and how-to approaches you need to go beyond individual therapy and confidently integrate parents into treatment so kids and their families can live with more joy, greater ease, and lasting peace.

In just one day, you discover how you can:

  • Develop self-leadership skills for both parent and child

  • Achieve the goal to help parents see more clearly

  • Remove yourself from the tornado - lead them from chaos to clarity

  • Stay out of the drama - not your job to fix it

  • Support self-sufficiency - or you’ll burn out

  • Help parents come up with the answers - empower them

  • Bring certainty, clarity, and groundedness to parents

Join me for this transformational one-day event to empower parents to be the change agents in their children’s lives!

Posttraumatic Growth: Deepening Skills to Help Clients Heal (Virtual CEU event)

This CEU training is hosted by Cognitive Behavioral Institute Center for Education.

Description:

As a clinician, you likely engage with individuals and groups who have survived various traumas and formative adverse life circumstances. Imagine how you can be a part of facilitating a possible transformation—of reconstructing the narrative and supporting clients beyond coping and resilience (Calhoun & Tedeschi, 2006).

Post-traumatic growth (PTG) represents positive psychological change occurring in some who have suffered trauma (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996). You can be the expert companion on a journey with your clients to find new meaning in their traumatic experience as well as purpose in life (Tedeschi et al., 2018).

In this workshop, you will gain an understanding of the brain-mind dyad (Siegel, 2012), the role of mindfulness (Kabat-Zinn, 2003), the latest research pertaining to PTG (Calhoun & Tedeschi, 2006), and clinical interventions you can begin incorporating into your work now to promote your clients’ journey towards healing and growth (Tedeschi et al., 2018).

You will learn how to listen for growth in your client’s language that you might otherwise miss, and you will know how to share the possibility of growth at just the right times in the therapeutic journey (Tedeschi et al., 2018). You will gain an introductory understanding of PTG and acquire tools and skills that can support you in the mastery of listening for and nurturing post-traumatic growth (Calhoun & Tedeschi, 2006; Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996).

Treating Traumatic Stress in Kids & Teens: Yoga, Mindfulness and Movement Based Strategies (Virtual CEU event)

This CEU training is hosted by Columbia University School of Social Work.

Register here.

Learn about the utility of yoga and mindfulness in working with children and teens with traumatic stress. This workshop introduces participants to the utility of yoga and mindfulness in working with children and teens with traumatic stress, and its benefit to overall health and day-to-day experiences. Participants will be introduced to movement-based techniques that can be experienced in a chair or seated position. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

“I used to think helping kids cope with trauma and stress was about engaging the child in the therapy room and parents were not part of the equation. Like so many of you, I was a therapist in a school setting with limited time and options for collaborating and working with parents – and it wasn’t something we were taught. Today I am dubbed the “Parent Whisperer” for my effectiveness in working with parents, specifically engaging difficult to reach parents. After many years, I mastered the art of engaging parents with compassion and influencing them with the utmost integrity and alignment in helping their kids live with joy and their family to experience ease and peace.

My aim and passion is to support clinicians to be confident in their approach with the toughest of cases, leading to an aligned team-work approach. I feel fortunate to have been afforded the opportunities to work with some of the most challenging cases, from high profile families dealing with pressures, to families coping with intergenerational trauma related dynamics, and everything in between. Parents are dealing with various stresses and often feel stuck in their ability to support their child in a way that works. They have “tried it all” and feel they have failed. That is most likely when they come seeking support from you.” – Dr. Grinman

Dr. Grinman will help remove the blind spots that create the challenges in making strides with parents and you will learn how to:

  • Develop self-leadership skills for both parent and child

  • Avoid fixing for the family: the goal is to help parents see more clearly

  • Remove yourself from the tornado; be the sherpa that leads them from chaos to clarity. Stay out of the drama – not your job to fix it

  • Support self-sufficiency – or you’ll burn out

  • Help them come up with the answers; empower them

  • Bring certainty, clarity, and groundedness to parents

WORKSHOP AGENDA:

9:30am: Introduction and housekeeping

9:35 – 10:35am: Tools for parental resistance & structuring the session and conversations

10:30am – 12:35pm: Getting the most out of your conversations with the parents & the limits of parent’s influence

12:35pm – 1:20pm: Lunch break

1:20pm to 2:20pm: Addressing difficult family dynamics & approaches to share with parents

2:20pm to 4:30pm: Trauma as it relates to kids & teens & the Real Method

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By attending this workshop, attendees will be able to better:

  • Evaluate how therapist’s own self-awareness can be used to support parent engagement and understanding of their contribution to child outcomes.

  • Analyze trauma from a developmental, psychological, and physiological perspective to understand children’s emotional and developmental needs

  • Construct effective plans to respond to resistance and challenges when supporting parents and children in therapy.

  • Demonstrate how involving parents in child therapy will improve child’s treatment goals outcomes by engaging parents in being models of the kinds of outcomes they want to see (regulating their own nervous systems, teaching them how to speak to their children so they will listen, etc.)

  • Integrate coregulation techniques to promote more effective parent-child interactions.

  • Demonstrate competency in utilizing techniques to self-regulate prior to and in sessions with parents.
